Australians living in remote and regional areas are paying sky-high prices for everyday goods and services and have been struggling with this for far too long. Yet, did you know the Remote Area Allowance hasn’t seen an increase since the year 2000? This means despite inflation and rising costs, the allowance hasn’t been adjusted in a quarter of a century.

It’s time to fix this. We need to increase and index the Remote Area Allowance to make sure people living in remote communities aren’t left behind. Whether it’s inflated grocery prices or the lack of essential services, it’s time for the government to step up and support Australians in these areas.
